Bargain Bin: A Penthouse Studio at Yerba Buena Lofts

This is design within reach, something like a Michael Graves tea kettle from Target. The Yerba Buena Lofts, designed by Stanley Saitowitz, made the rounds in design publications when it was first built in 2003. Five years in, it been gently aged by its SoMa address, but it's still one of the most distinct buildings in the neighborhood. Unit 941 at 855 Folsom is a below-market-rate penthouse studio going for $306,000, but only for the special San Franciscan who doesn't make above a particular amount: say, $81,300 for a single person.
