HAYES VALLEY: A reader was biking to work yesterday when he noticed "some jackhammer action" in the parking lot on Hayes and Laguna. He seems to remember a senior housing project planned for the site, and a recently expired building permit vaguely reveals: "Structural repairs & improvement to 1/f framing @ basement foundation. Install (n) elevator from g/f to basement." But a little footwork to the other side of the lot solves the mystery. A sign indicating nothing more than a new — wait for it — parking lot! In place of the old one. Economy: stimulated.
