For Rent: A Tenderloin Fishbowl
Thursday, June 19, 2008, by Jimmy Stamp

2008_06_tenderloin-fishbowl.jpgThere are bad design decisions and then there are Bad Design Decisions. According to today's bit of real estate criticism, Beyond Chron places the new first floor apartment at the corner of Turk and Hyde in the latter category. Although we love to see a new rental building (albeit an ugly one) sprout up in an area previously occupied by weeds and asphalt, it might've been wise to place a commercial property on the corner. The problem? Two enormous street-level windows placed at street-level, that give great views out onto the shady intersection— and a full-on peek into the unit. The only people we can think of who would actually want to live here are HBO film crews or urban-naturalists making documentaries on pimps. Monthly rent: $1550.
