And just like that, San Francisco Gay Pride season peeks its head around the corner. The Castro Muni Station officially unveiled their rainbow-colored escalator lights on Thursday. And it is marvelous.
Reactions to the multi-hued lights has been mixed, according to Hoodline, with emotions ranging from elation to decrying the twinklers as a sign of the Castro becoming a tourist attraction, a "gay Disneyland."
Judge for yourself.
One thing that cannot be denied, however, is that they are loads of fun, as evidenced by Hoodline's Steven Bracco's jubilant ride on the now-fabulous escalator. Behold:

The new ride is all part of SF MTA's plan to replace the neighborhood's escalators at both the Castro and Church Street stations. Also of note, the rainbow colors can be turned white at the flip of the switch. Hopefully, it will never come to that.
